Project: Leblon Apartment

Year: 2020

Area: 130 sq. m.

Location: Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Lead Architect: Marina Romeiro

The renovation and interior design of this apartment were conceived during the pandemic for a lawyer and nature enthusiast who sought a permanent sanctuary after a period of transition. The core concept embraces a “simple with personality” design philosophy.

The design prioritized integrating the kitchen into the social area and an intelligent reconfiguration of the bathrooms, transforming the old, compartmentalized floor plan into a contemporary and functional layout that caters to both the resident and his two young children.

The entrance hall now houses a classic Sheriff desk—a wish-list item for the owner that takes center stage upon arrival—visually connecting to the open kitchen where the dining table was strategically positioned.

In the bedrooms, versatility is key: the son’s room features modular millwork that allows twin beds to be converted into a king-size bed, while the daughter’s room explores soft textures and tones, seamlessly combining a study area and a vanity into a cozy, multipurpose environment.

The furniture is a celebration of Brazilian design, anchored by icons such as the Mole armchair by Sergio Rodrigues and the Etta chair by Jader Almeida, all set against the beautifully restored original hardwood flooring.
