Project: Lagoa Duplex

Year: 2021

Area: 80 sq. m.

Location: Lagoa, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Lead Architect: Marina Romeiro

This duplex penthouse was redesigned for a young couple of competitive shooters who sought to transform a family property. The core concept is inspired by the aesthetic of minimalist lofts, where the total integration of the first-floor spaces creates a sense of openness and modernity. The original living room and suite were transformed into a large, continuous area that seamlessly unites the bedroom, walk-in closet, and office.

On the lower level, flipping the bed’s original position allowed the couple to wake up to a privileged view of the Lagoa. The transition between the dining area and the private quarters is managed by custom metal-framed sliding doors with “mini boreal” textured glass, ensuring privacy without obstructing the flow of natural light.

The project explores the balance between the rigor of industrial style and the warmth of natural elements. The stone-textured porcelain flooring and exposed brick details provide a rustic, urban foundation, warmed by the Brazilian Freijó millwork and the iconic Mole armchair—a restored family heirloom piece by Sergio Rodrigues.
