This apartment was redesigned to serve as the official residence for a couple seeking a functional sanctuary with a contemporary aesthetic. The design’s starting point was the challenge of accommodating extensive storage needs and the residents’ cherished piano within a compact footprint, all while maintaining a sense of spaciousness.
The original two-bedroom floor plan underwent a radical transformation to optimize every square meter, embracing a total integration concept. The most bold intervention was merging the two original bathrooms into a single, hotel-inspired master bath. Equipped with a soaking tub and a double shower, the space is enclosed by smart glass partitions that alternate between opaque and translucent. This transparency allows for watching the bedroom TV while enjoying a bath, reinforcing the concept of a continuous, fluid space.
In the social area, the kitchen was integrated with the dining room and service area, freeing up space in the living room for the piano and creating a compact yet fully equipped kitchen tailored for the hobby of cooking. The contemporary furniture, which includes revitalized heirloom pieces, establishes a dialogue with unexpected pops of color, such as the mustard chairs in the dining nook. The result is a bold, modern home where smart glass technology and bespoke millwork transform a compact apartment into a place of rich, integrated sensory experiences.
