The C.Q. project was conceived entirely remotely while the client was still living in Portugal, planning her return to Rio de Janeiro. The fundamental premise for this retreat was to create a home that reflected the resident’s vibrant and sun-drenched personality.
The spatial reconfiguration focused primarily on integrating the social areas. The kitchen was opened and fluidly connected to the living room, allowing interactions to unfold naturally and without barriers during gatherings. This continuity extends to the balcony, designed as a true extension of the living space, maximizing natural light and ventilation. The main articulating element is the custom-designed bookshelf that spans the entire main wall, unifying the environment.
Materials and colors were selected to infuse the apartment with Carioca energy, balancing the luminosity of Branco Brisa—an airy, “coastal breeze” white designed to reflect light with an ethereal quality—with the warmth of natural textures.
The wood featured in the shelving unit and millwork details warms the neutral base, while strategic pops of warm tones, such as our signature Laranja Borogodó, emerge in the freestanding furniture and textiles.
This specific orange hue was chosen to embody “borogodó”—that distinctive, soulful, and charismatic Brazilian charm—bringing the joyful atmosphere requested by the owner. In the private quarters and the powder room, the use of wallpapers with geometric and botanical patterns reinforces this aesthetic choice.
